glittery green

Confession.  I still wear my retainer.

*hangs head in embarrassment

I got it in 8th grade.  That was in 1997.  Wow, 12 years ago.......wow.

Not every night, but maybe once a month or something.  I put it in and see how bad it hurts.  And if I wake up with sore teeth, then I wear it again that night.

Matt talks with a lisp to me when I have it in....and makes fun of me.

But who still has straight teeth?

That's right.  ME.

Oh how I love love love that bottom lip and those cheeks!

a different kind of Valentine's dinner

Matt and I decided to cook a fancy dinner together this year for Valentine's day.  I tend to think that this day is more hype than anything....but any chance for us to spend an evening doing something together is great!  We picked out this delicious lamb recipe and tried to make the dinner something a little special.  I mean, not to toot my own horn or anything....but it was awesome.  This was my first time to even buy lamb, and we polished our plates pretty quickly.

Matt even brought my some daisies (my absolute favorite!)  I love my Matt and don't really need a special day to show it, but it is fun to do something different!

If you've ever held Graham, aka my little lego man, then you know what's going on above is sooooo out of the ordinary!

full body western

We laugh about how Matt loves the western style shirts with the plaid and pearl snap buttons.  Actually, so does Bryan.  They see one in a store and are attracted to it like flies to the light.  So when I saw this one in Graham's size, I couldn't resist!

going green

So, fun surprise I had recently.

I absolutely love peanut M&Ms.  They're the best, hand's down.  Well anyway, I have this theory that the holiday M&Ms are fresher than the regular ones because they have to make them specifically for the holiday coming up.  If you think I'm wrong and/or crazy....don't tell me.  I think they taste better.

I also have this *thing* where I have to eat the M&Ms equally by color.  I can't just grab a handful and eat them without checking the color ratio that I have and making it all even and so on.  I could explain this whole process but it would take too long and make me look crazy!  I do this subconsciously.

So as I opened the bag in the car (a valentine themed bag obviously), I was pleasantly surprised to find that the whole bag was full of green M&Ms!  First of all, that's my favorite color.  Second of all, it's sort of sweet that they have an entire bag dedicated to the "romantic M&M character" from the commercials.  And third....I didn't have to check the color as I put them in my mouth.  I could just leisurely eat them without thinking about it!

This may not have been a good thing though.  I ate the whole bag.  That's right...the whole bag.  Go ahead....judge me.

looking out

I meet some other mommy friends and their babies on Mondays for some Chick-fil-A.  The one in the mall near us gives free chicken sandwiches on Mondays if you bring a bulletin, so we use that excuse to get together.  Well.....Graham usually screams after like 30 mins or so when he's in his car seat clicked into the stroller.  So, I finally figured out that he's probably big enough to sit in the stroller like a big boy.  He loved it!  He took a little nap and then woke up and shrieked with joy for a loooong time before letting me know he was ready to go.

4 Months

Graham is 4 months as of Sunday.  Wow.  I won't say it, but I'm thinking it.  Time flies!  Anyway, big changes have been going on around here.  This past week Matt and I realized that Graham was back to his happy self.  So three cheers for being out of that last growth spurt, he was a new kind of cranky!  We also realized that he grew....like a lot last week.  He is just so smiley and shrieks when he sees us, it's so sweet!  Some other milestones include:

- He rolled over (front to back) TODAY.  Yay!

- He has been sleeping unswaddled for the past week and we are SOOOO EXCITED!  We have been waiting for the day when it wouldn't take an hour to get him to sleep with his hands being his main enemy.  So we're thrilled for the unswaddled sleeping!

- He is obsessed with playing with the paci.  He wants it in his mouth but then inevitably loops one of his thumbs in the little handle and pulls it out.  He's about 50% successful at getting it back in there the right way.

- He is taking a bottle wonderfully with Mimi and Nana when I have to be at work.  He *might* not be napping or acting wonderfully for them, but taking a bottle is progress right?

- He is reaching and grabbing objects hanging in front of him with more accuracy - he's not missing them as much - and everything goes straight to the mouth of course!

- He is babbling and shrieking all of the time......no one knows where he gets his loudness from since Matt and I are so quiet.  ha.

- We recently bought a jumparoo thing (like an exersaucer but with bungies) and put up our door way jumper.  Since jumping is such a major activity for him, he's loving it!  He jumps in the jumparoo during dinner and it definitely adds more *fun* to the kitchen.

We had his 4 month doctors visit today and everything looks good!  The doctor was impressed with his head and neck strength (we have known he was part lego for some time now).  He is 13 lbs 4 oz (18%) and 24 inches long (18%) with a 16.34 inch head circumference (30%).  So he is continuing to grow and we're so proud of him!

join us!

Look who's sitting up!  With help obviously, but sitting and feeling a part of the fam.  Graham's friend Emma Grace let us borrow her bumbo seat (we wouldn't dare get him a pink one!)  He loves sitting on the table* while we eat and just looks back and forth between Matt and me....it's so funny!

*we don't leave him unattended on the table...don't worry!

another special friend

This is one of Graham's new friends, Emma Grace.  Emma is 5 weeks in these pictures I think and yet she's very close to Graham's size.  She is such a cutie and we love spending afternoons with her and her mommy!

Graham looks a little bummed.....is it because we were about to leave?  Emma Grace is so tall!

I think this one is hilarious.....I think they're looking at Beth (Emma Grace's sweet mama)
